ZERO WASTE
Rezolve Kernow were pleased to support Recycle for Cornwall and Zero Waste Week held 20th - 26th October 2008. The event challeged us all to take a look at the waste we create and identify ways that we can reduce it. Zero waste is part of what we call a "closed loop" system, where every material can be recovered and reused again in some useful way. In practice Zero Waste is very hard to achieve but ReZolve rose to the challenge! Zero Waste at HomeWe are encouraged all staff at ReZolve to take a fresh look at the waste they produce and Executive Director, Jon Rolls, along with his family, led the way by taking on the Zero Waste challenge at home. You can find out how it went by visiting the blog he kept duing the week: Zero Waste at WorkThe ReZolve office also be took up the Zero Waste challenge and with lunch time waste identified as the biggest culprit, staff were kept busy coming up with waste free alternatives to crisps, yoghurts and chocolate bars. If you would like some tips for producing Zero Waste lunches or would like to promote them in your workplace you can download our poster. In addition we showcased local PR company MPAD who, following an Envision audit have very nearly achieved Zero Waste for their office operations and saved themselves approximately £1000. MPAD have kindly provided us with a report telling us about the environmental practices they now follow and the effect it has on their business. Download the MPAD report Zero Waste for ParentsIt is impossible for parents of very young children or babies to achieve Zero Waste without switching to washable nappies. In recognition of this the Cornish Real Nappy Project offered free nappy trials to parents or expectant parents. The trial kits are still available at a hire cost of £10 for a month.
